Kugatta is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization that exists to bring families together who have been separated through Intercountry adoption. Every individual should have the right to know their own history and remain connected to their culture and family of origin. This is no different for the adopted person. It is our mission to provide a safe and ethical process to find answers, reconnect with Ugandan relatives, as well as to provide support and guidance while navigating this complex journey.
Kugatta is a grassroots organization that was co-founded by Jessica Davis after discovering her Ugandan adopted child had been unlawfully separated from her family through the Intercountry adoption process. After making the unprecedented decision to reunite that child home with her family Jessica Davis felt compelled to help other Ugandan adoptees get answers as well as to expose the many misconceptions and dark underbelly within the Intercountry adoption system.
Kugatta is makes every effort to support everyone within the adoption triad throughout this complex process. They work diligently to collect information, provide a platform for the vulnerable involved to be heard, as well as seek to ensure the needs and wishes of the adoptee are at the forefront of everything. It is their belief that when adoptive and biological families come together with the interests of the adoptee before all else that restoration and healing are possible.
